Pudding is a solid-foods diary, not an advisor. The plan is entirely yours: starting age, how many days a new food is given, how often allergens are repeated and which ones — all of it is set in the app (Profile → Plan). The defaults are only a starting point.

Below are the public guidelines and studies pediatricians rely on and that we looked at when choosing those defaults. Pudding prescribes nothing: talk timing and decisions over with your pediatrician.

International guidelines

  • WHO. Guideline for complementary feeding of infants and young children 6–23 months of age (2023) — when and how to start solid foods.
  • ESPGHAN. Complementary Feeding: A Position Paper (2017) — the European pediatric gastroenterology society's position, including allergen introduction.

United States

  • AAP (HealthyChildren.org). Starting Solid Foods — the American Academy of Pediatrics on starting solids and introducing new foods.
  • NIAID. Addendum guidelines for the prevention of peanut allergy (2017) — early peanut introduction.
  • FDA. FASTER Act: sesame is the ninth major food allergen — the official US list of major food allergens (the “Big 9”).

Studies

  • LEAP. Randomized trial of peanut consumption in infants at risk for peanut allergy (NEJM, 2015) — early, regular peanut introduction.
  • EAT. Randomized Trial of Introduction of Allergenic Foods in Breast-Fed Infants (NEJM, 2016) — early introduction of several allergens.

Russia

  • Union of Pediatricians of Russia. National programme for optimising infant feeding in the first year of life (in Russian) — chapter 5 on introducing solids, chapter 11 on feeding children with food allergy.

Important

This is not medical advice. Pudding helps you record feedings and reactions and show the diary to a doctor, but it does not diagnose and does not tell you what to give or when. If you see any reaction, contact your pediatrician.
